Surrey country garden design
This new build house's garden was a complete blank canvas. Besides designing a beautiful country garden we had to provide more privacy and find some way of disguising the seven manhole covers. The design made the wide shallow plot look larger by drawing the eye diagonally to the furthest corners with seating areas. The pleached hedge was lengthened for more privacy and most of the manhole covers were concealed in the paving and borders.
Soft drifts of Geranium, gaura, sidalcea and clematis in purple, white and blush pink give the borders a relaxed, romantic feel, with a rusted steel obelisk and matching water bowl adding quiet structure against the dark timber fence. Two seating areas — the main terrace and a smaller circular patio set into the lawn — give the garden different moods to enjoy through the day.
The planting has matured well and the client is enjoying looking after it. To read more of how this garden was built read here.
